馬林魚隊鈴木一朗第8局上場代打，敲出安打，這是他大聯盟生涯第2881支安打，超越Frankie Frisch，獨居第39名。

不過此戰馬林魚隊能贏球的功臣不是鈴木一朗，Giancarlo Stanton 第1局就轟3分彈，讓洛磯隊陷入苦戰，這是Stanton本季第22號全壘打，大聯盟第1名，單場4打點，累計55打點，也是大聯盟第1名，馬林魚6比0擊敗洛磯，中止最近的3連敗。

馬林魚隊除了Stanton轟全壘打，Jeff Baker也在第5局轟出陽春彈（本季第3轟），第一棒Adeiny Hechavarria則擊出了3支安打。

馬林魚隊先發投手David Phelps投的精采，先發8局被擊出4支安打，沒失分，贏得勝投（3勝3敗），洛磯隊Chris Rusin先發5.1局失6分，吞敗投（2勝1敗）。
